BANGKOK STREET FOOD Skyrocketing Pork Prices Drive Street Meals Up

Pork prices are currently 2x higher than they were in the middle of 2021. The price is now 210-230 baht/kg whereas it was originally 140 baht/kg.
Food vendors, especially those who sell dishes like pork fried rice, stir-fried pork with garlic, pork rice porridge, and red pork on rice, have posted signs explaining that they have had to increase their prices by 5 baht.
A decrease in the amount of pork being produced, coupled with a rise in demand for pork, is a major factor driving up the price.
